‘His Favorite Place’

A lot of people were surprised when I requested cremation.  Bry and I had talked about it a few months before he left, right after his grandfather had died (March 2005).  His grandfather (cancer), even though he already had a burial plot, decided to be cremated.

I don’t think Bry had ever considered it before.  His reasoning for it was “different”.  When I asked where he wanted his ashes, he said he wanted me to keep them with me, and when I died, he wanted to be buried in his favorite place… between my legs.  Now, that may seem a bit personal to share, but it is so typically Bryant that I just love to tell it.  So, we will one day be buried together at the cemetary where my mother’s family is buried and the single tombstone will carry both our names.  I want to have it done now, but I need to talk to my mom about it first.  Not sure how she would handle seeing my name on a tombstone even if there is no date for my death!
